Why is culture the fourth pillar of sustainable development?

What are the 17 SDGs and what is the role of culture in people-centred sustainable development?

How to localise the 17 SDGs though culture and local cultural policies in your city, local or regional government tomorrow?

Aim and contents

The webinar "Using the Full Potential of Culture in the Local Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals" provides an in-depth information on the relation between Culture and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The webinar is seen as a learning and capacity-building activity for cultural decision-makers, planners and experts involved in the effective consideration of culture in the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the end of webinar, participants are provided with a complete overview of the essential role of culture in the localisation of the SDGs, and be inspired regarding strategic measures and concrete actions for the formulation of local sustainable cultural policies.

The webinar is open to local and regional governments, and especially to officials and officers working in teams in charge of Planning, Community Development, Culture, Education, Heritage, Inclusion and Public Spaces.

The UCLG Culture Committee shapes this webinar according to the needs expressed by members. In other words, this webinar can be specifically prepared as a capacity-building activity for a group of key people working in the same government, or it can be designed as a peer-learning activity involving representatives of several governments.
