Welcome to this online course on "Caring Territories for Women Victims of Violence"!
Local governments are on the front lines in meeting the needs of victims: from social support, housing, economic integration, health, and family services. Taking into account the reality on the ground, they show inventiveness and determination, becoming sources of innovation and inspiration for national and international actors.
With all this in mind, the Observatory on Violence Against Women of the Department of Seine-Saint-Denis—with its 20 years of experience in women's rights—and the Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy, and Human Rights of United Cities and Local Governments—with its 20 years of experience in rallying the voice of local and regional governments—have developed this training for you. This is for local government officials, as well as any other stakeholders or individuals interested in the role of local governments in fighting violence against women.
This MOOC is part of a broader program of local governments from around the world committed to combating violence against women. Find out more about this program in this course!
What is the purpose of the MOOC?
To provide you with an overview of the different ways in which local governments interact with violence against women: from local policymaking to global cooperation and networking.
This MOOC shares the fundamental steps to implement on-the-ground policies and presents the diversity of initiatives that exist across the globe.
We can all act from our own positions to eradicate violence against women. We say: "We believe you, we listen to you, we protect you, and we want you alive, free, and equal."
Shall we start?
